I'm Planing to buy RCounter but i can't test it.

I have follow all the installation instructions.

Configure IIS 6.0 For CGI.
Configure Directorys.
Create de Database rcnt2.esf
Insert the image in the pages.

I can acces de rcnt2.CGI aplication from internet

But all the stadistics are in 0.

That's not a function of the RCounter. RCounter is a web-auditory (not physical traffic) analyser.

But we may create special script for effective solution of your job. We have such experience and we're interested in such projects.

Today RCounter is successfully translated from russian into english and into romanian. We developed special useful possibility to translate interface of the web-reports and install other-language-messages-file into program.

Site Visitors Page Statistics

Hi,

I am testing it out but I am confused about the Site Visitors page. The IP Address column does not match with the actual IP address of a visitor. It was his ipaddress a while ago but now he has a new one. I even put a sniffer in and verified that indeed his requests come from a different IP address. What could be happening?

On a separate test I have another visitor who upon viewing pages increases the \"hits\" but the \"site views\" stays at 0. Any idea why?

Each visitor has several IP address, for all the history, hi visited the site.
RCounter shows only the first address.


the site views count increase only when SiteInterval time is passed from the last visit.
So, if the user view the site at 23.00 and then at 2.00 - hits count will be increased and site views - not.

Help needed for instalation on Solaris

Dear Sir,
We are trying to install the Rcounter software on \'Solaris 8\' Box.

While untarring the file we are getting the error rcnt2.conf is not in Gzip format.

And while executing the script ./rcnt2.exe i am getting the error
\"Syntax error at line 1: \')\' unexpected.

Any help what is the problem??

As I know,
only in Solaris 9 added Linux compatibility.
You can not run RCounter 2.0 at Solaris 8 machines.

Hi, i tried to install Rcounter to my account on a Linux/Apache Server:
SERVER_SOFTWARE = Apache/1.3.26 (Unix)
GATEWAY_INTERFACE = CGI/1.1
SERVER_PROTOCOL = HTTP/1.1
Anything goes right except the call to rcnt2.cgi. I always get following message in Netscape and IE:
Script Error

The script did not produce proper HTTP headers. Please see the error log to see the detail of the errors...
Can you help?

I am runnig windows 2000 on the server. I am not a cgi expert.
I have problems accessing the .cgi file because my server apparently doesn\'t understand which programming language the file is written in. On other occasions I had .cgi files pointing to pearl by default and it worked just fien. Obviously this is not a perl script and it points to the .exe file right next to it. I can access the .exe file just fine but in order to customize the counter I need access to the .cgi file(I set the rights forscripts & executables as mentioned in your instructions). Any ideas?
Which programming language is the counter written in?

Hello!
You can, for example rename the file rcnt2.cgi to rcnt2stat.exe
and use the config file (rcnt2.conf)
and the ID parameter during the calling.

some configuring steps will be needed too... But that's possible.

3-4 days for advantages development and setup.
And we need to know which search engines you want to be supported
(because there're some searchers which hide search words).

In "Internet Services Manager" console
expand your site, select the
directory, in which you run cgi-scripts.
Right-click on the directory,
then select "Properties" in the context menu.
In the "Properties" window select the "Directory" sheet and set the "Execute permissions" option to "Scripts and Executable".
Then press the "Apply" button and close properties window.
Now RCounter must work correctly.

1. Yes, you can install RCounter on a Linux machine. If you do not like the .exe file extension you can change it (for example .cgi)
but in this case, you must rename the file and must use the config file.


2. Yes in the GEO version you'' can add the autentification into multi-user system.

Actually, RCounter can monitor up-time, down-time and roundtrip but only for your site (not for server!). You are able to see these parameters not only for separate pages, but also for group of pages - just use/see the page statistics report. This kind of report you can see here: statistics of pages (see below).

Yes, there are two ways:

1. Install rcounter for each of virtual hosts
(needs some installations)
and then each user will be provided with their own statistics.

2. Create a special counter domain
(for example: \"counter.somedomain.com\")
In this catalog you can place ONE COPY of the rcounter system
and configure it for counting several sites (with different stat
bases, differen stat view URL's).
It is possible by using conf-file \"rcnt2.conf\".

In this file you can declare many blocks in which should be
described stat-base names, USERID's, some more (read installation dox
or look at conf-file sample in the packege).

This way provides each user with their own statistics (and own base,
not shared with other users). Statistics will be showed after calling
\"counter.somedomain.com/cgi-bin/rcnt2.cgi?id=USERID\"

In future we'll provide the passowrd protected blocks
(like in apache .htaccess and .htpasswd).

Yes, it is a server-side cgi-script.
It runs on server, you can view statistics just entering special URL in browser.
But there`s
other interesting way to get stat reports: you can configure (on server!) special tool (included in commercial package), this tool will send to your mail stat report (txt, html, xml or others) with any regularity.

In future we'll announce improved version of program that will be not trivial cgi-script but service/daemon, much effective for host-centers, web-studios and portals.

RCounter2 has special abilities for this case. Special conf-file lets you setup stats for lots of sites. You just have to install only ONE copy of product.

Yes, it is absolutely possible.
If you have RCounter v1.0, you should:
- Install so many copies of the system, as you wish.
- Place the code of pages of sites appropriate calls of counters (for
each site it’ll be unique)

For the second version of RCounter:
Actually, there is two variants (they may be used simultaneously)
The first one: install one version of the system and make a distinction
for your escort sites with the help of different nodes (groups).
As there is a possibility to combine pages in groups in the second
version, you can easily to combine your escort sites in one group.

For example:

Site2. Main
Site2. Misc........
Site2. Misc. Articles..........
Site3..........
...............
and you can make arbitrarily many groups and nesting levels.

The Second version has a possibility to receive statistics not only for
